Sitting directly across from a pristine beach lies an incredible three-story holiday home with a striking colour palette, sophisticated design and jaw-dropping ocean views.
The spectacular Playa House, on Sydney’s Palm Beach, is earning nominations at national home design awards – and it’s not hard to see why.
Guests are wowed by the breathtaking sea views that act as a ‘mesmerising’ backdrop to the upstairs lounge while an incredible outdoor deck area carved into the rocky hill the home sits features day beds and an outdoor yoga studio.
The palatial family home is as functional as it is stylish with sleek yet durable surfaces and living spaces of epic proportions.
Playa House’s designers steered away from bright whites and cool blues usually associated with coastal style and instead embraced more vibrant hues that contrast the modern concrete walls and stone floors.

‘We opted for a colour palette that eschews the expected coastal bright white and cool blues for a sophisticated pairing of sun-kissed terracotta and earthy khaki with judicious accents of soft blues and greens,’ designer Justine Hugh Jones of Hugh-Jones Mackintosh said.
The kaleidoscopic home’s unconventional approach to colour has landed it in the shortlist for this year’s Dulux Colour Awards, which celebrates the most innovative uses of paint across Australia and New Zealand.

The lounge and studio open out onto a spacious outdoor deck with plenty of nooks to relax and take in the enviable view like the round day bed and a sweet swinging bench all shaded by towering Norfolk pine trees
A rattan palm tree in the lounge pays homage to the funky pad’s beachy-chic concept and suburb name while energetic patterns like on the circus-striped bubble armchair add fun pops of colour.
On the lower level there is an airy lounge filled with natural light that features black timber beams on the angled ceiling, a built-in bar, and neighbouring yoga studio.
