I saw my ex on Tinder – and he Photoshopped his photo

A woman has gone viral after exposing her ex for Photoshopping his Tinder profile photo – while sharing a before-and-after comparison of the image, which she took.

UK-based content creator Beth Leah, 21, took to TikTok to reveal she had stumbled upon her ex-boyfriend, Dan, on a dating app.

She quickly realized that the photo her ex-lover was not just a snap she had taken when the two were together, but ‘Photoshopped as hell.’

In a viral video, which amassed over 13.5 million views, Beth showcased both the retouched and original photos.

‘Point of view: You see your ex on Tinder with a photo you took of him, but he’s Photoshopped the hell out of himself,’ she said in the video.

She captioned the clip: ‘The poor girls that are going to be gutted when they see the real deal.’

In the edited photo, Dan gave himself a chiseled jawline, some facial hair and different colored eyes, and changed the lighting.

And while Beth thought the clip would get a few chuckles from some of her closest pals, she never expected the clip to go viral.

Speaking to Daily Dot, she said: ‘I’m still quite shocked this interested so many people. I think Dan (my ex) is a very good-looking guy with and without the editing and there is no hate towards my ex-boyfriend.

‘I think what shocked people the most was how good he was at editing and how different he made himself look.’

Viewers were left jaw-dropped by the difference in photos, many of them joking they wanted him to retouch their pictures too.

One person said: ‘I can’t lie, that’s some good editing.’

Another user added: ‘No. You did him dirty girl,  I cannot!!’

‘Screaming,’ wrote someone else.

One person commented: ‘I’ll pay him $10 to FaceTune my photos.’

‘Bro got a PhD in FaceTune,’ wrote another user.

‘The way my jaw dropped,’ added someone else.

One person commented: ‘You’ve done him so dirty haha.’

And while many social media users were surprised, edited photos on dating apps aren’t all that rare.

One survey revealed a quarter of singles admitted to Photoshopping their images before posting them on dating apps in hopes of finding love.

This has become so common that Gen Z has even coined its very own term, branding the practice of editing photos or sharing old pictures ‘kittenfishing.’

And, according to Garbo, kitten or catfishing is much more common than it seems.

About 23 per cent of women and 38 per cent of men have catfished someone. Dating apps prove to be the most likely place for catfishing, representing nearly 40 per cent of catfishing cases.
