Mother’s homemade weed killer using three household products cost her just 68p

Weeds be gone! You don’t have to live in fear of them in your garden any longer with this mother’s homemade remedy that costs just 68p to make.

Emma Gill has wowed the internet with her DIY weed killer that she mixed up using items from her kitchen cupboard.  

The mother shared a video of the cheap hack, as she reported that within a few hours the weeds in her garden were dead, Manchester Evening News report. 

So, here’s how she did it…

In order to make the homemade solution, Ms Gill used table salt, distilled vinegar and dish soap.

More specifically, she used a litre of white vinegar, three large spoons of salt, three large spoons of washing-up liquid.

After mixing up this solution together, she decanted it into a watering can – although she advised that using a spray bottle would be better.

This is because she found that using a watering can left a ‘fair bit of salt residue behind until it rained’. 

And within just a few hours of the mixture being trickled over her garden, she reported that the weeds ‘were visibly dead.’

She continued to say that the natural remedy is better than store bought ones and is ‘cheaper too’.

Depending on the kind that you buy and if you have quite a large area to clear, bottles of weed killing solution can now easily run into double figures.

In fact, she even said that her husband was impressed with the results, as he told her that the mix she made worked far ‘better than the weed killer we used last time’.
