Bride is labelled ‘tacky’ after choosing a sheer wedding dress in spite of her mother’s request for modesty: ‘It is my day, not hers’
- Boutique shared a video of a model in an unconventional gown
- People said it ‘looked like lingerie’
A young woman has been criticised after sharing a video of herself trying on a sheer wedding dress – before taking aim at ‘mothers’ demand their daughters wear ball gowns.
The woman modelled the dress for the camera, even pretending to walk down the aisle like she would on her big day.
She joked that her mother would ‘only want her in a ballgown’ but that it’s her day and she will wear what she wants.
But people claimed the stunning red head should ‘listen to her mother’.
Some said the dress looked sleazy and others said it needed a slip underneath.
The unconventional lace and tulle gown is sheer from the upper thighs down, comes with a plunging sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice.
A woman’s choice of a sheer dress for her wedding has been slammed as ‘tacky’ after she said her mother would never approve of her gown
‘It would look more elegant if it had a liner,’ one wrote on the video.
‘Each to their own but that dress ain’t it for me,’ added another.
‘Not the mum’s day. My mum tried to pull all kinds of shenanigans after backing out two weeks beforehand because I didn’t want my day to be what she wanted. Good riddance,’ said another.
‘Absolutely the bride’s choice. But don’t be upset if the mother of the bride doesn’t pay then. Choices have consequences in all things. Make sure you can pay for yourself if your mom doesn’t approve,’ commented one more.
‘I am so sick of gowns that look like lingerie,’ added another.
While one person said ‘whoever is paying for the dress deserves to have their opinion heard’.
Others accused those saying it needs a liner as ‘boomers’.
‘Just because you want to cover up, doesn’t mean we do. Mind your business,’ she added.
Many brides-to-be also added their own experiences.
‘My mum isn’t happy that I have two dresses! But it’s not her wedding!’ said one.
‘My mum said “You know you can see your legs through that dress.” And I said “it’s gonna be 80 degrees [27C] and I’ll be wearing a thick bodice. My legs being free to breathe is the best part”,’ said another.
The video was posted by Virginia Bridal Boutique. The red-head appeared to be a model re-enacting a previous clients’ purchase and their mother’s displeasure.
