A police report says a former high-ranking Republican lawmaker in Rhode Island was naked when he broke into a neighbor’s home.

The report released Wednesday by East Greenwich Police says former House Minority leader Robert Watson was seen running across his street naked and entering his neighbor’s house Monday.

When patrolmen arrived, they found Watson naked and bleeding, with blood on his hands.

Watson was taken to Kent Hospital after he was arrested and arraigned before he was sent to the Adult Correctional Institution in the state.

The homeowner told police he wanted to press charges because it was the second time Watson entered his home without permission.

Watson was arraigned in court on Tuesday with a bail of $10,000 of personal recognizance. But he was soon found to have violated both his bail and probation.

The judge ordered Watson held without bail because he violated bail on another matter. It was not clear whether he had a lawyer.

He is expected in court on November 21 for the bail violation hearing and once again on December 11 for a felony screening.

Watson had been arrested on assault charges back in May when a man told local officials that the politician had hit him with a padlock and then fought him.

A year prior Watson was arrested after he shattered a glass door at Citizens Bank.

Back in 2011 he had been charged with DUI and marijuana possession charges in Connecticut but that case was eventually dropped.

Watson spent more than two decades in the state House, retiring in 2012.
