The term seems to be taking the internet by storm with the hashtag receiving more than 89.1 million views on TikTok.
But do you know what really counts as a ‘bed rot’?

And other social media users were quick to adopt the phrase for themselves and took to the comments to share their own thoughts.
One wrote: ‘I feel my purpose in this life is to rot in different places. My bed, hotel bed, beach sand, hammock etc. I was made to lay and rot.’
Another added: ‘I wish it was acceptable to tell people this is my hobby.’
And a third simply said: ‘Literally, I love rotting.’
In the aftermath, people have taken to the platform in their droves to share an insight into their bed rotting set up in their own homes.
Many showed themselves bundled up under the covers surrounded by their laptops, snacks and even mood lighting.
But it is important to note that, according to Bustle, spending time undisturbed beneath the covers has to be intentional to count as true bed rotting.
And other social media users were quick to adopt the phrase for themselves and took to the comments to share their own thoughts
