Mountain Dew News – an unofficial social media account for the brand – said: ‘Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen any Zero Frostbite for a while in Utah, that’s interesting…’

Similarly another said: ‘Haven’t seen any Frostbite at all in any of my local Walmart store in about a year if not more.’

A third wrote: ‘Haven’t seen any in South Carolina.’

It comes as Walmart is in the midst of a retail ‘bloodbath’ after axing a host of locations.

At the start of the year, the chain announced it was axing at least 20 of its 5,000 nationwide stores due to low footfall and a rising theft rates.

In April Walmart announced it was shuttering half of its Chicago stores where it was losing millions each year to theft.

At the time the company said the four stores in the city had ‘not been profitable’ since it opened the first one around 17 years ago – even after efforts to turn the stores around and combat dwindling profits.

And in March two stores in Portland – located at the Delta Park and Eastport Plaza shopping malls – were also forced to close down amid a rise in crime.

In total 579 employees were affected by the Portland closures.

Six stores across Indiana, Ohio, Minnesota, Kentucky, Washington and Hawaii have also closed this year.
