A man who has visited every Wetherspoon pub in the country except one is set to visit the last branch this weekend – after having to book a flight just to complete his mission.
David Bingham, 60, from West Hallam, Derbyshire, has visited 875 of the company’s pubs since 2019.
He only has one pub left to visit, which is inside the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport.
David, who spent more than £20,000 visiting the pubs, including 40 which have now closed, will have to pass security at the airport to get a pint at the Flying Horse, completing the list.
David’s partner Una Cooper, 63, bought him a Wetherspoon directory in 2019 and since the retired forklift driver has been inspired to frequent every branch in the UK and Ireland.

He once visited 14 of the venues in one day and last month took a 9-day cruise around Ireland in order to visit every Wetherspoon on the emerald isle.
David and Una often rely on public transport and have even used a hovercraft to access the pubs on the Isle of Wight.
Some of David’s trips to the branches have lasted a matter of minutes and on one occasion, he even booked a flight to Poland – which he did not get on – in order to get through security and access the airport Wetherspoon at Heathrow.
On one of his other excursions, David and his partner spent £69 each on flights from Heathrow to Manchester to tick off the airport pub before getting a train straight back.
Last year, the couple went on a British Isles cruise which docked in Belfast.

‘My partner went to the giants causeway, and I went to the three Wetherspoon pubs,’ Mr Bingham told The Sun.
‘There’s never a dull moment. It’s a great way to see the country.’
‘If we were going somewhere new, I’d suss out the Wetherspoons,’ David told LadBible.
‘I’ve had a drink in most pubs, I’d say 85 per cent. I’m a lager lad, definitely.
‘The one in Ramsgate [in the Royal Victoria Pavilion] is my favourite because the history behind that building is incredible.’

David added that he loves ‘architecture and buildings’ and thinks its amazing that Wetherspoon save heritage buildings.
‘There are five police stations, there are churches, there’s chapels, there’s a tram depot, there’s a fire station,’ he added.
Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon told FEMAIL: ‘ We applaud David Bingham on his outstanding achievement.
‘Many people love to visit Wetherspoon pubs across the UK and Ireland, but only a handful have visited each and every one.
