Liverpool fan carves gigantic ‘LFC’ into Shropshire hills

  • The letters ‘LFC’ have been carved into the north side of Titterstone Clee Hill
  • They measure almost 100 metres, making them nearly as big as the Anfield pitch
  • The topiary was discovered by members of the Ordnance Survey’s flying unit

It is not uncommon for supporters to show their loyalty to their club by buying replica shirts or having the club crest inked into their body.

But one Liverpool fan has gone further than most by carving the letters ‘LFC’ into the Shropshire countryside.

The letters stretch almost 100 metres down the north side of Titterstone Clee Hill – meaning they are a similar size to the pitch at Anfield.

The tip-top topiary was captured by the Ordnance Survey’s flying unit, which takes aerial imagery of over 50,000 square kilometres of the country each season.

Andrew Tyrell, OS’s Remote Sensing Surveyor and Air Camera Operator, noticed the carving from the skies and took an incredible picture from the air.

According to experts the horticultural artistry, which is found some 90 miles south of Liverpool’s ground, can be seen from as far six kilometres away.

The hallowed turf in L4, where Jurgen Klopp’s side will renew their Premier League campaign against Southampton later this month, is 101m long and 68m wide.

Titterstone Clee Hill is far more vast but, for now at least, it has its own corner that is forever Liverpool.

The letters are almost the same size of the Anfield pitch, which measures 101 metres by 68m
