They made the historic announcement earlier this year that the new Doctor Who will be a woman for the first time, played by Broadchurch actress Jodie Whittaker.
And now – just over a month until she will make her first appearance in this year’s Christmas Special – the BBC have unveiled a teaser image of the new Time Lord strutting out of the famous TARDIS.
The image shows Jodie stepping across a meadow of flowers, the time machine in the backdrop, with the sun rising slowly from the hills in the background.

Jodie, 35, looks edgy in The Doctor’s trademark trench coat, sporting an ensemble beneath seemingly inspired by past Doctors Colin Baker and Tom Baker.
She wears high-waisted pair of teal trousers, with yellow braces; a navy top underneath with coloured stripes running along the front.
Jodie looks fresh faced, with her cropped blonde locks fluttering slightly in the breeze.
She sports a pair of leather ankle-boots and flashes a hint of a smile as she walks across the grassy field.

Jodie – who has starred in recent years in ITV’s Broadchurch as grieving mother Beth Latimer and the BBC’s unnerving medical drama Trust Me – is the 13th incarnation of the Time Lord.
She will be seen in the Christmas Special next month when exiting Doctor Peter Capaldi regenerates.
The news that Jodie had been cast in the role, was announced in July – which she remarked was ‘overwhelming, as a feminist’.
She said: ‘It’s more than an honour to play the Doctor. It means remembering everyone I used to be, while stepping forward to embrace everything the Doctor stands for: hope.’

A sneak peek was released at the same time, giving fans an initial slice of what to expect from her in the role.
She was shown in a wooded area, wearing a dark hooded sweater and a long thick coat.
She clarified at the time that this wouldn’t be her outfit on the show – with the BBC waiting for now to make the grand reveal.
She will be joined in the cast by Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill and Sharon D Clarke when the new season airs next year.
