Christian Eriksen has revealed he ‘can see’ Denmark’s rising star Rasmus Hojlund joining him at Manchester United.

Eriksen and Hojlund are away together on international duty, with both starting in a 1-0 victory over Northern Ireland on Friday evening.

Hojlund’s goalscoring efforts with Atalanta in Serie A have seen United boss Erik ten Hag name the upcoming striker as a transfer target.

The Red Devils were rebuffed by the Italian side on Thursday after they slapped an £86million asking price on the 20-year-old, however, Eriksen believes his fellow countryman could be set for a move to Old Trafford.

The United midfielder labelled Hojlund as a ‘fantastic guy’ but insisted he had not spoken to club boss Ten Hag over pursuing a potential deal.

‘I can see him at Manchester United, but I haven’t recommended him to Erik ten Hag,’ Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet.

‘He is a fantastic guy and a good player and has really developed brilliantly at Atalanta.

‘What the club ends up doing, I will not be able to answer.’

Eriksen enjoyed a solid debut season at United as the club ended their longest trophy drought in 40 years by winning the Carabao Cup and finishing third in the English top-flight to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

The 31-year-old made 44 appearances in all competitions under Ten Hag despite being blighted by an ankle injury that required surgery.

Eriksen and his United team-mates were denied a second piece of silverware by Manchester City in the FA Cup final and has warned Hojlund that if he joins the 13-time Premier League champions then he must be able to cope with the spotlight pressure.

‘It’s a club where there’s a huge amount of attention because everyone has an attitude towards Manchester United,’ he said.

‘I had tried a lot when I came to the club. So I knew a little bit about what size the club was.’
