Dad foils kidnapping of his 17-year-old daughter

A Florida father is being hailed as a hero after he bravely confronted a gang of teens who were attempting to kidnap his daughter.

Brackney, 17, had been leaving the family home on Preservation Path, Crestview on Tuesday evening when she found the end of her driveway blocked with barrels. Instead of getting out of her car to move them, she simply drove around them and drove away.

Police say the barrels were part of a kidnapping attempt by Keilon Johnson, 19, Austin French, 17, 16-year old Tyree Johnson, and 15-year old Kamauri Horn, to try and force Amber out the car so they could grab her.

After his daughter avoided the first alleged kidnap attempt, Terry Brackney, 51, ran outside with his gun and found Keilon Johnson, 19, (right) and three friends trying to break into his garage

Moments later, Amber’s father Terry Brackney, 51, heard his dogs barking and saw his motion activated flood lights come. He also heard what he thought was a car door opening and closing.

Brackney grabbed his gun and ran outside to find a group of teens trying to force their way into his garage.

The dad opened fire and the group fled into the woods, according to Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. He later discovered they had been unscrewing some of his security lights, possibly for a second kidnap attempt.

A neighbor, who witnessed a ‘suspicious car’ fleeing from the scene, called the cops who stopped the 2016 White Jeep Liberty on Highway 4 and made a felony traffic stop.

Inside they found the teens, along with a knife, guns and a roll of tape.

Cops believe the teens had ‘concocted a plan to kidnap the teenage daughter.’

In a statement, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said: ‘The goal was to first force her out of her car by blocking the road with barrels and garbage cans. (However their intended victim drove around the barrels and kept going.) They then planned to head to her house, confront and subdue her father – who they believed to be wealthy – and rob the home.’

All four defendants are now charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted home invasion robbery.

Johnson was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail while the others are being held at the Department of Juvenile Justice facility.
