Beauty And The Beast Australia cast unveiled as they prepare for the opening night in Sydney

Beauty And The Beast is set to hit the stage in Sydney’s Capitol Theatre. 

The West End’s production of the enchanting fairytale premiers this Thursday night, June 22. 

Disney lovers have been given a first look at the stellar cast, with photographs from the dress rehearsals released hours before the curtain is raised. 

As she prepared for the big night, lead Shubshri Kandiah looked flawless on stage while portraying Belle in her beautiful signature yellow princess gown. 

Her co-star Brendan Xavier, who plays the Beast, also looked the part in a royal blue suit and special effects makeup. 

The West End lineup includes some of the most well-known theatre stars, including Jayde Westaby, whose credits include roles in The Rocky Horror Show, Grease and Mamma Mia. 

She will play Mrs Potts while Australian actor Rohan Browne will step into the role of Lumiere for the exciting run Down Under. 

Other cast members include Nick Cox, who plays Le Fou, and Rodney Dobson as Maurice. 

The major production will run for over four months, premiering on June 22 and closing on November 5.

While it’s based on the 1991 animated Disney film, the magical story was first turned into a theatrical production on Broadway in April 1994. 

Speaking about taking the production to Australia, Disney Theatrical Productions President Thomas Schumacher said: ‘We are thrilled to return to Australia with Beauty And The Beast  as re-imagined by members of the brilliant original creative team.

‘This beloved show – and Belle herself – are somehow as contemporary today as when the film premiered in 1991; even more meaningful to those who first discovered them decades ago and to an entirely new generation. 

‘Each time we’ve returned to Australia over the last quarter century we see audiences grow larger and more appreciative and the deep pool of extraordinary home-grown musical theatre talent grow even deeper. We cannot wait to come back.’
