Orville Peck takes to Instagram to reveal tour postponed due to mental and physical health issues

Orville Peck took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal that he was postponing the remainder of his tour to take care of his mental and physical health.

The 35-year-old singer, real name Daniel Pitout, posted a message for his roughly 602,000 followers to share the unfortunate development.

‘I am completely heartbroken as I share this news, but I have made the incredibly difficult decision to postpone all of my upcoming shows effective immediately,’ Orville posted.

‘This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I’ve come to realize that my current mental and physical health won’t allow me to bring you my best,’ he continued.

‘My fans mean the absolute world to me and I am so incredibly thankful to every single person who has bought a ticket to come and see us play, I do not take it for granted. Being on stage is my favourite thing in the world,’ the post said.

‘But I have to take this time to replenish my mind and body so that I can come back stronger and healthier than before, in order to do what I love for many years to come. I truly hope you can understand,’ Orville added.

He concluded by telling his followers that he would see them soon and also sent them all of his love.

Orville launched his 11-date tour on Tuesday in New York City with a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.

The South African country musician wears a fringed mask and has never shown his face publicly.

Orville released his debut album Pony in 2019 and his second studio album Bronco was released in April 2022.

In 2020, Orville reimagined the Lady Gaga song Born This Way in a country style.

He made an appearance in March as a guest on the judge’s panel on RuPaul’s Drag Race on MTV.

Pitout also was a member of the Canadian punk trio Nü Sensae that was founded in 2008 and went on indefinite hiatus in August 2014.
