Borussia Dortmund rekindle interest in Man United’s Swedish star Anthony Elanga…with the Red Devils open to offers for the winger after struggling for minutes under Erik ten Hag

  • Elanga has struggled for gametime since Erik Ten Hag became Red Devils boss
  • The Swede could be sold for as little as £10million with United open to offers

Borussia Dortmund have rekindled their interest in signing Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga.

Dortmund were keen to sign the Sweden international in January as were Everton, but the German side could now go back in for the United winger thanks to the money received from the £113million sale of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid.

Elanga struggled for gametime at Old Trafford in Erik ten Hag’s first season as boss, and it’s understood that the club would be open to offers for the 21-year-old.

Club figures are said to have even lowered their valuation of Elanga to only a £10m asking price.

Elanga made only seven starts for the Red Devils in 2022-23, and failed to find the net in a frustrating season for the Swede.

Earlier this month, Elanga had been linked with Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig, after Swedish teammate Emil Forsberg urged the club to sign the player.

Despite his limited game time under Ten Hag, Elanga has remained part of the Sweden squad, and played in both his countries international fixtures this month.

He came off the bench to score in Sweden’s 4-1 friendly win over New Zealand and then was a late substitute in the 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifying defeat to Austria.

Elanga joined United at the age of 12, and has made 55 appearances for the club, scoring four goals.

Speaking in March, Elanga addressed his bit-part role at United.

He told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet: ‘It is frustrating. You want to play, it’s important. But whether you play or not, it’s up to the coach not me.’

Elanga then added: ‘I know what he wants me to do and I just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.

‘We have a lot of conversations, not only about [the gametime] but also what is happening around. That’s the good thing, we talk a lot and they help me a lot.’
