MasterChef Australia contestant Theo Loizou reveals how he lost 50kg and why a trip to a men’s clothing store prompted him to take action after he tipped the scales at 125kg
MasterChef Australia contestant Theo Loizou has revealed his dramatic transformation.
The electrician, 37, was overweight in his early Twenties, but managed to shed almost 50kg by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
He said at the time his diet consisted of ‘whatever I wanted’ and a serious back injury prevented him from exercising.
He explained a sobering trip to the men’s clothing section at the department store helped him understand his weight was out of control and he needed to take action.
‘I’ve lost 45kg and kept it off since I was around 23,’ he told Woman’s Day.

‘I remember going to a shop to buy a t-shirt and the XXL was skintight. I didn’t realise I had gotten that big.’
The reality star said he then made a commitment to eating healthy and regularly exercising, walking and boxing to get back into shape.
‘It’s something you’re going to have to do for the rest of your life so it better be something you love,’ he added.

He said a positive outlook helped him through some difficult times.
‘I feel great about myself and always have. Even when I was heavier I never looked down on myself,’ he said.

Loizou has a passion for creating mouth-watering bread-based recipes in the kitchen.
He previously said he learned his breadmaking recipes from some of the world’s best chef’s in France and hopes wow audiences with his stunning creations.
