Taylor Swift left hundreds of thousands of Aussie fans disappointed when she announced she would not be bringing her The Eras world tour to Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
Swifties in those cities now need to consider the cost of trying to secure tickets, pay for flights and accommodation in Sydney and Melbourne to catch the popstar in concert.
The real reason behind Swift’s decision to snub the three major cities all comes down to logistics.
Harvey Lister, the Chairman of ASM Global Asia Pacific, said Swift initially intended to play at Brisbane’s Lang Park stadium and Adelaide Oval, but as global tour dates started to fall into place, Australia was unfortunately ‘sandwiched’ due to geographical logistics.
Swift’s tour schedule includes a week-long stop in each city.

With Australia’s allocation of only two weeks’ worth of dates, only two cities could feasibly be incorporated into the itinerary.
Lister explained to ABC Radio Brisbane: ‘There just wasn’t time to keep leapfrogging from city to city.’
Despite the logistical challenges, the capacity of the stadiums in Brisbane and Adelaide was not an issue.

Interestingly, despite having a much smaller population than Japan, Australia had more tour dates than Tokyo, a testament to Swift’s popularity in the country.
Swift’s promoters even indicated that they could have held back-to-back dates in Australia for a month, although this would not have been sustainable throughout the duration of the tour.
‘So the date period for Australia, which initially was going to be longer, when the tour was also coming to Brisbane, it got sandwiched between other dates in other countries, and effectively Australia was between Japan and Singapore,’ Lister explained.
He reassured fans by recalling the last two times Swift toured Australia, with both concerts at Lang Park selling out.
‘There’s no doubt there’s an enormous, enormous interest from Swifties right across the country and it’s just unfortunate,’ he said.
Another top music promoter told Daily Mail Australia fans should be happy that Swift is even making her way over Down Under, with many mega stars opting not to include Australia on their tours.
‘Just be happy and thankful she’s even coming. It’s very disrespectful to have these petitions and people complain. She can’t play in every country’s major city. It’s impossible for one artist,’ they said.
The Pennsylvania native will be performing five concerts in Australia in February, two in Melbourne and three in Sydney.
The Melbourne shows will be performed at the MCG on February 16 and 17.
Swift will then fly to Sydney to perform over three consecutive nights at Accor Stadium, on February 23, 24 and 25.
VIP packages start from $349.90 and go up to a whopping $1249.90 for the It’s Been A Long Time Coming bundle
General tickets will go on sale Friday, June 30, with Sydney kicking off at 10am local time, and Melbourne going on sale at 2pm.
Frontier Touring advises fans to buy tickets through authorised sellers.
‘We cannot guarantee any ticket purchase made through any means other than the official ticketing agents listed on the Frontier website,’ it said in a statement.
Swift’s show offers a variety of different ticketing options to suit all kinds of needs and budgets.
