Wolves technical director Fran Garagarza ‘to leave the club after just seven months to take up role with Espanyol’ as manager Julen Lopetegui trims his backroom staff
- Garagarza arrived at Molineux alongside coach Lopetegui back in November
- But he is leaving to take up the sporting director post at LaLiga club Espanyol
- It comes as Wolves prepare to offload a number of players during the window
Wolves’ technical adviser Fran Garagarza is reportedly leaving the club after just seven months.
The Molineux club have no plans to replace Garagarza, who is returning to Spain to join Espanyol as sporting director.
Garagarza was brought in as part of Julen Lopetegui’s backroom team when the Spanish coach was appointed back in November.
He was previously technical director at Spanish club Eibar, whom he helped build up into a LaLiga club, and Lopetegui wanted to draw on his knowledge and experience.
But, the Daily Telegraph report, Garagarza is already moving on to a new challenge.

Lopetegui has established a close relationship with existing sporting director Matt Hobbs, meaning a technical adviser isn’t really required.
Lopetegui is overseeing his first summer transfer window in the job having steered Wolves out of relegation danger to a 13th-place finish in the Premier League last season.
The sale of captain Ruben Neves to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for £47million has raised much-needed funds.
Talks are underway with Brentford over a potential £25m move for defender Nathan Collins and a raft of other players could also be sold.
Centre-back Max Kilman has attracted interest from Tottenham, while forward Raul Jimenez, goalkeeper Jose Sa and wide players Daniel Podence, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Jonny could be sold for the right price.
It looks increasingly likely out-of-contract Adama Traore will leave on a free.
