Inside ‘Australia’s worst Macca’s’: Shocked food reviewer unleashes on awful service, broken order screens and ‘dry’ burgers at infamous low-rated McDonald’s
- Western Sydney McDonalds has poor google score
- ‘Semi pro’ TikTok food reviewer went to investigate
A social media food reviewer has investigated the stomach-churning reputation of a McDonald’s claimed to be ‘Australia’s worst’.
TikToker ‘Crazy Carl’ went to the McDonald’s in Emerton, western Sydney, after being urged to visit by his own followers.
His review came after an earlier clip about ‘the worst Macca’s in Sydney’, at St Peters on the Princes Highway, but there was no comparison.
On Google, the Emerton restaurant carries a rating of 2.3 stars out of 5 from 1,332 reviews. The St Peters franchise has an average of 3.8 stars from 2,246 reviews.

One Google reviewer claimed McDonald’s staff at Emerton had ‘tried to fight him’ when he complained.
Crazy Carl, who describes himself as a ‘semi-pro food reviewer’, made a clip about his experience where he endured dodgy food but surprisingly finished by giving the restaurant 5 stars.
But it was a sarcastic score, given only because ‘the chairs were really cool’.
As soon as he entered, Carl found substance to claims the western Sydney franchise was below par.
‘I cannot lie, right off the bat none of the order machines worked and there was no-one to take our order,’ he said.
‘When our food finally came we realised that they gave us the wrong order, just like all you guys had said.’
‘The Big Mac was so dry I almost threw up. The patty tasted like cardboard.
‘And the McFlurry tasted really, really off.
‘But that’s okay because the chairs were really cool. So five out of five!’
Crazy Carl’s followers relished the chance to ruminate on Emerton Macca’s.
‘Yeah you probably ate last year’s food, Emerton Macca’s is still about a year or two behind on orders my bro,’ one man wrote.
‘I waited 20 minutes for my coffee at this Macca’s that they didn’t make and the manager was angry at me for asking for my coffee,’ another wrote.
One girl said she used to work in the restaurant. ‘Never again,’ she said.
One person claimed that despite living across the road from the dubious diner, they drove 20 minutes to reach one of Penrith’s five Macca’s instead.
Crazy Carl’s followers urged him to check out Emerton Maccas after reviewing the St Peters franchise. His instinct to give Emerton a good score was immediately undermined when all the ordering machines were out of order
So could Macca’s at Emerton really be so much worse than the other thousand-plus McDonald’s franchises around Australia?
A quick search by Daily Mail Australia of 10 other McDonald’s, in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, all returned scores just over or just under the 3.5 star mark – including Penrith’s stores.
Even the Macca’s on the Princes Highway at Moe, Victoria – dubbed Australia’s worst in a brutal 2016 Trip Advisor post – has a far superior google score (3.4 stars).
Daily Mail Australia approached McDonald’s for comment.
