Bayern Munich make shock Harry Kane bid: German giants offer £60m for England captain

Bayern Munich make shock Harry Kane bid: German giants offer £60m for England captain, with Tottenham’s Daniel Levy desperate not to sell to a Premier League rival despite Man United interest

Bayern Munich have reportedly submitted an offer worth £60m plus add-ons for Harry Kane, according to The Athletic.

The Tottenham star and England captain has just one year left on his contract and was linked with a move away from the club this summer, with Manchester United also interested in the 29-year-old.

Bayern, who are led by former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel are keen to bring in a forward this summer and Kane is one of their priority targets for the position.

The striker has been heavily admired by United as a potential signing since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge of the club, while Erik ten Hag is also known to be a big fan.

Manchester City were heavily linked with a move for Kane two years ago but were met with strong resistance by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and eventually signed Erling Haaland instead last summer.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are also reportedly keen on Kane as they look to cope with the departure of legendary Los Blancos forward Karim Benzema following his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad.

Levy – who is known as a notoriously tough negotiator – is desperate not to sell to a Premier League rival despite United’s interest so it remains to be seen how he reacts to the bid from Bayern, although he is likely to want upwards of £100m for the 29-year-old.

Spurs are in a vulnerable position however given Kane has just one year left to run on his deal, with negotiations over a new contract delayed last year as the forward attempted to focus on helping the club qualify for the Champions League.

However, it was a disastrous and chaotic season for the north London outfit as they went through three managers, while they also finished in eighth and missed out on European football altogether.

Nevertheless, Kane did enjoy a superb personal campaign as he netted 30 goals in the Premier League which matched his career-best efforts from 2017-18 when he also scored 30 times.

Such were his impressive exploits that in February he became Spurs’ all-time record goalscorer, overtaking the legendary Jimmy Greaves and he has now scored 280 goals for the club in just 435 games.

Meanwhile, he also surpassed Wayne Rooney as England’s all-time record goalscorer against Italy in March and Kane has racked up 58 international goals in 84 caps.
