Triple J host Ange McCormack has announced she is stepping down after almost eight years in the role.
Ms McCormack made the announcement on social media on Thursday, telling followers that she was ’emotional about farewelling a job I love and a team that have become lifelong mates’.
‘Triple j has taught me everything I know and I’ve been so lucky to have been supported & invested in for so long,’ Ms McCormack wrote.
She added that she wouldn’t have left the national broadcaster unless the ‘opportunity was huge’.
She will now be joining the ‘7am’ podcast from July 17 to cover for host, Ruby Jones, while she is on maternity leave.

Ms McCormack has worked at the ABC for just under eight years, spending a majority of her time as a part of Triple J’s news broadcast, Hack.
She had been nominated for two Walkley Awards for her investigative work on both Hack and the ABC’s Four Corners program into sexual violence committed through dating apps.
Speaking to Schwartz Media, who publish the 7am podcast, Ms McCormack said she was ‘honoured to be joining the Schwartz Media team.
‘I can’t wait to join Schwartz and spend time with the inspiring team,’ she said.
The podcast’s producer, Scott Mitchell, said he has ‘admired Ange McCormack’s work for a long time, and I’m thrilled she’s joining’.
‘Working with her as she hosts the show for the next six months is going to be a lot of fun,’ Mr Mitchell said.
