Aston Villa complete transfer coup by sealing £31.5m deal for Pau Torres as the Spaniard joins former boss Unai Emery at Villa Park after Bayern Munich interest
Aston Villa have pulled off a coup by signing Villarreal defender Pau Torres in a deal worth £31.5million.
The stylish left-footed centre-back, who had a £55m buy out clause, was convinced by Villa’s ambition and the prospect of linking up with Unai Emery once again.
The Spain international was also wanted by Bayern Munich but they are signing Napoli’s Kim Min Jae.
Villa want to sign a winger with Leicester’s Harvey Barnes and Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest among their targets.
They remain one of five clubs keen on Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams with West Ham, Brighton, Everton and Forest.

He has played 105 games under Villa boss Unai Emery, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists
During his time at Villarreal, the centre back played 105 times for the Aston Villa boss, who has guided Aston Villa to the Conference League in his first term at the helm.
Torres comes to Villa Park a Spanish international, having been capped by La Roja 23 times, and has long been of interest to many of Europe’s elite.
Manchester United were credited with looking to bring him to Old Trafford in the past, although it is believed that Erik ten Hag was keen to sign Lisandro Martinez over the Spaniard at the time, ending their pursuit last summer.
