GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING: Bride-to-be and her beloved dog are mauled by bull terrier in horrifying attack at an off-leash park – just weeks before her dream wedding
- Isabelle Payne and her dog Lola were attacked
- Her wedding is in seven weeks
A woman and her mini dachshund were severely mauled by an aggressive bull terrier just weeks before she’s due to walk down the aisle.
Isabelle Payne had been with her fiance Jacob Thirkettle and their dog Lola at an off-leash park in the Gold Coast on Wednesday when they were suddenly set upon.
Mr Thirkettle said his partner and pet were ‘attacked unprovoked’ and suffered serious injuries with Ms Payne left covered in cuts and scrapes, while Lola had to undergo surgery on her back.
‘Seven weeks out from our wedding, one of the worst possible things happened to Lola our three-year-old miniature dachshund and Isabelle my fiance,’ he said.
‘They were both attacked unprovoked and mauled by another dog while at an off-leash dog park on the Gold Coast.’
Ms Payne was left with nasty cuts over her hands and knees and had to receive medical care.

Both Ms Payne and little Lola are now in recovery with the bride-to-be sharing she and her partner had to buy their pup pyjamas to keep her from scratching at her stitches.
The couple’s other dog is also keeping a watchful eye over Lola.
Mr Thirkettle said if it wasn’t for his partner and the help of strangers their dog would have been killed.
‘My fiance was very badly injured trying to extract Lola from [the dog’s] grip. Safe to say that without Isabelle’s quick thinking Lola wouldn’t be here with us,’ he said.
‘We’re so grateful to the members of the community who we don’t know that came to their rescue.’
The couple have since started a GoFundMe to help raise funds to go towards Lola’s vet bills.

Dozens of donors wrote kinda messages to Ms Payne and Lola.
‘Breaks my heart to see this. Hope Lola recovers physically and emotionally from this. Give her a belly rub from me,’ one wrote.
‘So sorry you’ve gone through this. Praying for a speedy recovery for both you and Lola,’ another said.
The fundraiser has so far garnered just under $2,500 in donations.
