Popular celebrity sensationally QUITS Dancing with the Stars: ‘We’ve never had this happen’

MasterChef Australia star Matt Preston has sensationally quit Dancing with the Stars after suffering an ankle injury on the first day of training.

Sunday night’s episode saw Preston, 61, withdrawal from the competition after he and his partner, Jessica Raffa, failed to impress the judges with their second performance to Brian Ferry’s Let’s Stick Together.

Preston placed in the bottom two alongside AFL legend Gavin Wanganeen and partner Megan Wragg.

But, just as he was meant to do a dance-off, the famed chef announced he was forfeiting.

‘I’ve loved everything about this but my ankle is cooked,’ he began.

‘I can’t dance again tonight. So what I want to do is to concede and give the win to Gavin and to Megan who did brilliantly today.’

Host Daryl Somers replied: ‘Ok this… we’ve never had this happen.’

‘Look we might get a comment from our judges if um, given the situation…’

Craig Revel Horwood added that he thought Preston was making the best decision based on the circumstances.

Preston damaged a tendon in his ankle just minutes into his first rehearsal.

‘My immediate reaction was, “Oh, I can’t do it now,”‘ he told TV WEEK.

The food critic announced that was joining dancing competition in May.

‘Time for something totally new and way out of my comfort zone,’ he wrote on Instagram, along with a promotional video for the series.
