New York Mets fan falls 12 feet over railings onto the field midway through Sunday’s Giants game

New York Mets fan accidentally falls 12 feet over railings and onto the field midway through Sunday’s game against the Giants, before being escorted back to his seat at Citi Field!

The New York Mets game against the Giants at Citi Field was momentarily paused on Sunday night when fan bizarrely fell over the railings and onto the field.

It was the bottom of the fifth when the game needed to be stopped. The moment the fan fell, presumably by accident, was not caught on the broadcast but cameras swiftly cut to the man stood by the wall holding his face.

As security ran towards him, he held his hands up to signal he wasn’t a pitch invader or anyone looking to cause unrest and appeared to be hurt by a fall of around 12 feet.

A video soon emerged on twitter showing the fan on the floor and he looked slightly dazed. Other supporters can be heard calling out to ask if he is alright and almost laughing in disbelief as they say ‘the game is still going on!’.

The man appeared to be asking for napkins to hold up to his bloodied nose.

He was holding his face but seemed to be ok – by the top of the sixth, cameras saw him back among the crowd and he showed no sign of any cuts or bruises.

Fortunately for him too, he was wearing a hat and sunglasses which he recovered from the field to help keep his face disguised.

But he had a great story to tell the fans he was sat with when he returned to his seat.

Fortunately there was no insult to injury for him – the Mets won 8-4 and clinched their first MLB series win in a month.
