Flight chaos hits Australia again as Virgin Australia scraps five return flights as crowds swell at Sydney Airport after days of chaos
- Five Virgin flights out of Sydney Airport cancelled
Virgin Australia has cancelled five flights as travellers face a sixth day in a row of delays with huge crowds piling into Sydney Airport.
It’s understood the airline cancelled the flights scheduled to leave Sydney Airport on Tuesday due to operational reasons.
Sydney Airport has been overwhelmed with passengers trying to board a flight after several days of continuous cancellations and delays.
On Monday, 18 domestic services destined to land at Sydney Airport – including from Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, the Gold Coast and Griffith were all cancelled.
A further 13 flights scheduled to leave Sydney were also scrapped – with affected destinations including Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart and the Gold Coast.
An airport spokesman said the cancellations are a knock-on effect from the weather-related disruptions that took place over the weekend.
