EXCLUSIVE: Angela Scanlon ‘signs up for Strictly Come Dancing’ after catching BBC producers’ eyes as ‘glamorous yet wholesome’ TV presenter
Television favourite Angela Scanlon is reportedly set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing when it returns later this year.
The Daily Mail can reveal Irish redhead Angela, 39, who currently hosts BBC2’s Your House Made Perfect, is amongst the first group of celebrities to sign up to appear on the popular dance contest which is back for a 21st series.
Sources at the BBC say that they are thrilled to have secured her to their line up, adding that they expect her to be an early contender to go far in the competition.
She first found fame on the BBC’s One Show and in 2019 was given her own show which catapulted her into a household name.
One source said: ‘It is hard to get the mix right for Strictly every year but producers think that Angela is perfect for it.

‘She is really popular with the BBC’s viewers but unlike so many celebrities she doesn’t have a dancing background so Strictly fans will be able to go on a really enjoyable journey with her.
‘Every year the producers like to have a glamourous yet wholesome TV presenter as the fans love them.’
It is understood that Angela has been approached to appear on the programme before but the timings weren’t right.
However, it is unlikely that the star will be hit by the Strictly curse which has ended numerous marriages since the show began in 2004 because she is happily married to Irish eco-entrepreneur Roy Horgan and the pair have two daughters together, Ruby, four, and Marnie, one.
She and Roy who now live in North London married in 2014 in a fairytale ceremony in Co Wicklow, just outside of Dublin.
As well as starring on Sunday night show Your House Made Perfect, which transforms problematic properties into dream homes, Angela is also a successful podcaster.
She hosts her own, Thanks A Million which is listened to by hundreds of thouands of fans.
In 2021 she was injured in a crash when the Addison Lee taxi she was travelling in collided with an ambulance in North London.
Angela was treated by medics at the scene and later taken to hospital

Angela also recently told of her 15 year struggle with an eating disorder. Writing in her autobiography named Joyrider, revealed her mental health struggles and how she went on to undergo therapy.
She wrote: ‘I managed to paint a decent picture and life looked good, I got the big entertainment TV job, I had a hair ad, I did all the glossy red-carpet things and I was more miserable than I have ever been in my life.
‘I have lived for many years split in two: my outside face beaming and smiling, relentlessly positive; inside in turmoil.’
Other celebrities that have been tipped to appear on this year’s Strictly are Bobby Brazier, the actor son of the late reality star Jade Goody and Adam Thomas who appears in BBC drama Waterloo Road.
