Australian rapper Iggy Azalea celebrates Fourth of July and reflects on her 17th year in America after ditching Down Under for the States
Australian rapper Iggy Azalea has made it clear on countless occasions that she considers America to be real home.
So it’s no surprise that the Fancy hitmaker was happy to celebrate Fourth of July in the States this week, which coincided with her 17th year in America.
‘Today is a special day for me because I came to America on July 4th 2006,’ she tweeted.
‘It was pretty surreal spending the day at home and watching fireworks in Miami with my son… I remember seeing them as the plane landed that first night. Happy 17th year here to me. What a wonderful life I have,’ she added.
In a separate tweet, the OnlyFans star also revealed why she relocated to the US in the first place, writing, ‘I moved here because I wanted to make a type of music that is not popular in my country.’

Iggy later battled with some online trolls, including one who told her to go back to Australia.
‘Wait until I tell him I’ve paid infinitely more in taxation to the US in my lifetime too,’ she fired back.
‘I’ve also provided more jobs than him. I currently employ 11 people full time on six-figure salaries. Thus… I have contributed more to this country than he has. AND I’m hotter than him.’
Iggy famously claimed in 2016 that she had ‘no connection’ to Australia since moving to the States when she was 16.

Speaking to the Herald Sun at the time, the star indicated she was happy to no longer be living Down Under, stating, ‘I mean, to be honest with you, my home is in America.
‘It’s great to come back [to Australia] and visit my grandparents, but there is no home connection.’
