BelVita Breakfast Sandwich biscuits are recalled NATIONWIDE after reports of allergic reactions
Two varieties of belVita Breakfast Sandwich have been recalled in the United States due to possible allergic reaction from peanuts.
New Jersey-based Mondelez Global LLC voluntarily recalled two flavors of its breakfast sandwiches- Dark Chocolate Creme and Cinnamon Brown Sugar with Vanilla Creme- after three unconfirmed reports of allergic reaction, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced Monday.
Those flavors may contain peanut, which is not included on the ingredients list. ‘People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanut may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming these products,’ the agency said.
The recall is limited to those two flavors, which were sold at retail stores across the United States.
‘We became aware of this issue during an internal manufacturing inspection, when we found the potential presence of peanut protein residue on the line used to make these products,’ Mondelez said in the statement.
The FDA urged consumers with peanut allergies to discard these products.
