‘Margot Robbie has the nicest feet’: Barbie director Greta Gerwig reveals why she refused to use CGI after fans went wild over her ‘perfect arches’

Barbie director Greta Gerwig has revealed why she refused to use CGI on Margot Robbie’s feet.

The filmmaker, 39, explained she decided against using computer-generated imagery because the actress, 33, already has ‘the nicest feet’ and didn’t struggle to recreate the iconic doll’s perfect arches.

Gerwig told Australian TV show The Project: ‘Everyone said, “Are you going to CGI all the feet?” And I thought, “Oh god, no! That’s terrifying! That’s a nightmare”.

‘And [Margot] has the nicest feet. She has these beautiful dancer’s feet. She should just hang onto that bar and do it just like this.’

In the trailer for the highly anticipated film, Barbie quite literally steps into world with her feet still arched from her high heels.

Margot revealed the secret behind her famous arched foot in the new Barbie film on last week’s episode of The Project.

‘There’s no special effects, you’d be amazed how few [special effects] there are in this film actually,’ she said.

Margot explained it’s her own feet in the frame, and she achieved the shot by stepping out of her heels and simply ‘held on to a bar’ so she was ‘sturdy’.

‘We did put double-sided tape on the floor so that my shoes stayed still,’ she added, before revealing she also had a pedicure prior to filming the scene.

Social media fans went wild seeing Margot’s feet in a trailer for the Barbie movie.

In the official sneak peek, Margot is seen stepping out of a pair of pink sparkly heels.

As the blonde removes her feet from the shoes, viewers then see her standing in the Barbie position that makes her appear as if she is wearing an invisible pair of heels – her foot arched and toes pointed.

Viewers flocked to social media to react to the actress’ feet, with one fans writing: ‘Margot Robbie’s feet really about to make me buy a ticket to Barbie.’

‘Can we talk about how pretty Margot Robbie’s feet are?’ another person said.

‘The first shot of the Barbie The Movie trailer is a shot of Margot’s feet. They know there’s a massive group of guys that will pay to see this,’ a third chipped in.
