One of the top women’s golfers in the world will be swinging for two people as she plays the vaunted Pebble Beach while pregnant.
Speaking to Good Morning America, Olson talked about what it’s like to play at one of the highest levels of her sport – all while being in the middle of her third trimester.
‘I’ve had multiple dreams throughout my life. One has been to play on the LPGA Tour and play professional golf at the highest level,’ Olson told GMA.
‘But I also knew I always wanted to be a mom. And so this week kind of feels like the convergence of those two dreams.’
Olson will be one of over 150 women trying to clinch the oldest of the five women’s major championships.

Olson is expecting her first child with her husband, college football coach Grant Olson
Olson, who is about to have her first child with college football coach Grant Olson, says that she was able to lean on some fellow professionals who have gone through the same thing.
‘I’ve been out here ten years, so I know multiple friends who have gone through this and played while they were pregnant. And I also knew they stopped playing at some point before they gave birth.
‘And so I was texting everybody, how long did you play? What week was it? So I kind of had looked at that based on the venue. I mean, Pebble Beach is just historic.
‘The US. Women’s Open is like the top level of our game, and I was like, if I can play in that, if I qualify, I’ll be there. I’ll waddle down the fairway, whatever it takes.’
Olson says she looks forward to sharing photos with her child to look back on the experience
Olson hopes to look back on the experience fondly and will share memories with her child.
‘They’ll be able to see footage and photos and to be able for me to say, you were there, that was you, I think that’s going to be really special and something that, even if they don’t remember it, it is a shared memory together,’ she said.
Olson opens the tournament with some pretty long odds to win it all – currently sitting at +42000 on FanDuel.
Rose Zhang is the odds on favorite to win it all at +1000. Last year’s champion, Minjee Lee of Australia, is sitting at +2900.
