John Dimmig, 33, is facing charges that include attempted murder for allegedly assaulting a man he found in bed with his wife (at right) – bludgeoning him with a baseball bat to the point where he was hospitalized
An enraged Dimmig, 33, allegedly toting a black Rawlings aluminum bat, closed the door behind him and charged at the man, police from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office wrote in probable cause affidavit viewed by DailyMail.com.
Its been claimed Dimmig bludgeon the man – whose name was redacted from the court filing – at least three times.
Cops said the man had been in town from Arizona, and that he and Barbato were co-workers. The home where the alleged altercation took place was a rented Airbnb.
‘I felt like he was out to kill me,’ the traveling X-ray technician who took the beating allegedly told responding officers after being found bleeding from the head at the scene.
Officers summoned to the temporary residence by a frantic Barbato – who is also a CT scan technologist – ‘observed the living room of the apartment with covered in blood, with streaks leading into the bedroom.’
In the bedroom, cops came across the injured victim – who they said was laying on his back and bleeding heavily from a wound on his head.

Cops said he stormed into a Lake Worth, Florida, home and found his wife Christie Barbato (seen here) in bed with a coworker whom she met in January. The victim – who was not named by investigators – had in town from Arizona and was renting the domicile as an Airbnb
Photographs were taken of the scene before fire officials arrived and began treating the victim – who was then transported to St. Mary’s Hospital as a trauma alert.
Due to the nature of injuries, a crime scene was set up at the front door of the apartment, which cops said did not belong to the victim.
Recounting the alleged altercation to investigators, he said it happened ‘while he was in the bed with Barbato.’
Using his account along with Barbato’s, the affidavit describes how police believe the incident transpired.
‘[The victim] heard the front door of the residence open,’ the filing reads. ‘[He] stated that he then got up to see who it was.
‘[The victim] stated that when he got to the living room, he saw a male running at him with a bat.’
It adds: ‘[The victim] further advised that the male charged at him and pinned him to the ground and hit him three times with an aluminum bat.’

Barbato was eventually able to pull Dimmig off her alleged lover – at which point Dimmig was heard saying, ‘Don’t come near my f***ing wife again!’. Images posted to the pair’s social media accounts indicate they may have only recently wed – but dated as far back as 2018
Before interviewing Dimmig, cops encountered a distraught Barbato, whose social media suggest she is the mother of at least three children
Surveillance video obtained from the property, which included audio, subtantiated the man’s claims – with Barbato reportedly heard screaming: ‘John! Stop! He’s bleeding!’

In a separate video, the affidavit notes, ‘[Dimmig] can be heard screaming ‘Piece of s**t! F**k you!’ [and is then] seen leaving the residence and walking towards the road’ with the bat in hand
The potentially damning footage has yet to be released, and is currently being used in the case against Dimmig, which could result in a life sentence – if the attempted murder charge sticks.
Before interviewing Dimmig, cops encountered a distraught Barbato, whose social media suggest she is the mother of at least three children and may have only recently married the suspect.
In an interview, Barbato told police her husband was responsible for the grisly beating, and that she ‘had been laying down in bed in the bedroom of the apartment with her coworker, whom she had known since January of 2023.’
She added that met the victim for drinks earlier that night, and that she was invited back to his rental for what appeared to be a sordid tryst.

into a vacation rental with a metal baseball bat and beating a man who he believed had been in bed with his wife.
After Barbato spoke to police, they interviewed Dimmig at the couple’s home in nearby Lake Park. He claimed he had not left the domicile the entire day, except for a brief trip to a grocery store.
Deputies added that when they arrived at the home, they found Dimmig loading his Hyundai sedan with two bags of clothes.
When asked about the weapon used in the attack, Dimmig conceded he owned a bat, but rebuffed claims that he hit anyone with it.
However, cops quickly found evidence that seemed to contradict the suspect’s account, with deputies recording a bat outside the couple’s laundry room, as well as a ripped black T-shirt and white undershirt that appeared to have blood on it.
Embedded in the barrel of the bat were ‘small hairs,’ officers who penned the affidavit noted.
They also added that Dimmig’s black Hyundai accents matched the description of a car caught on a traffic camera a block from the Airbnb a minute after the attack.
Currnetly being held without bail, Dimmig has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him. He has a court appearance scheduled for July 17.
