Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Dillian Whyte has officially been confirmed, with the two British heavyweights going toe-to-toe on August 12 at the O2 Arena in London.

The fight, which will be aired live on DAZN, will cost viewers £26.99 – seven pound more than Joshua’s last fight against Jermaine Franklin.

The all-British heavyweight bout will also take place at the O2, which played host to their first fight back in December 2015.

Joshua emerged victorious from their first bout, beating the Body Snatcher via technical knockout in the seventh round.

However, some boxing fans feel the rematch between AJ and Whyte will be more evenly matched given Joshua’s current form.

Anthony Joshua ‘s (above) rematch with Dillian Whyte has officially been confirmed

AJ returned to the ring in April after a seven-month absence with a unanimous decision win over American heavyweight Jermaine Franklin.

The victory marked AJ’s first career since his second successive defeat to the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world champion, Oleksandr Usyk.

However, it wasn’t the most convincing win as the bout when the distance – with the judges scoring it 118-111, 117-111, 117-111 in favour of the former two-time world champion.

Immediately after the fight, AJ said he wanted to face Deontay Wilder next. However, Eddie Hearn felt Joshua would benefit from another fight under his new trainer Derrick James before taking on The Bronze Bomber.

Therefore, they opened negotiations with Whyte over a rematch, even though  many boxing fans believe feel the Body Snatcher is on the decline as he has been knocked out in two out of his last four fights by Alexander Povetkin and Tyson Fury.

Additionally, some feel Whyte actually lost his bout to Franklin – with the American agreeing and stating he felt as though he had been ‘robbed’ by the British judges.
