New Reading boss Ruben Selles still faces a transfer embargo despite the League One club having two of three sanctions lifted by the EFL
Reading have moved to lift two of the EFL sanctions linked to their transfer embargo, but remain banned from signing new players.
The Royals financial difficulties have eased somewhat over the past 24 hours after two of the three transfer embargo-related offences hanging over them were removed by the EFL.
The sanctions in relation to breach of profit and sustainability rules and the non payment of loan player wages have been squashed.
However, the third breach of EFL rules in relation to unpaid tax remains, meaning Reading cannot sign any players until a payment is made to the HMRC.
The news will come as a frustration to Ruben Selles, who was appointed as new Reading head coach last week.

It is understood a number of players have been lined up by the former Southampton boss as signings, but as it stands those deals cannot be completed.
Separate to the three aforementioned charges, the EFL also confirmed last month that Reading had been charged with several other rule breaches.
The charges were related to the failure to meet their obligations to pay players’ wages on time.
Yongge Dai, the club’s owner, was also charged with causing Reading to be in breach of EFL rules despite his commitment to fund the cash requirements of the club.
