As Kim Murray cheered on her husband Andy on Centre Court last night in a dramatic three-hour battle that is still yet to be decided, many eyes were also on the glamorous mother as she stunned in a vibrant patterned dress and trademark honey-toned locks.
Mother-of-four Kim, 35, has debuted a new 70s-inspired hairdo at Wimbledon 2023 as she has taken her seat to watch her two-time men’s champion husband compete.
The painter, who has become known for her stunning locks, was animated as she watched her husband come back from narrowly losing the first set to tie with Stefanos Tsitsipas, before the match was called off because it hit the All England Club’s 11pm curfew.
According to an expert, the hairdo signals a new image for Andy’s childhood sweetheart, as she ups the style stakes at SW19.
Fabian Martinez, a hairstylist and trichologist at The London Hair Clinic, has revealed how Kim achieved her stunning look – and why her new cut is the hot style of the summer.
Kim Murray, 35, looked sensational as she cheered on her husband Andy on Centre Court at Wimbledon last night, and showed of her enviable locks
Watching her husband battle it out on court against the Greek Tsitsipas, Kim looked sensational in a £695 pink floral Zimmerman dress, paired with an Aspinal of London bag.
Speaking to FEMAIL, Fabian explained Kim’s latest retro look is known as a ‘butterfly cut’ with lots of layers – and much of the volume she achieves in her locks are down to having enviable genes.
‘Kim has naturally thick hair,’ Fabian said – however, he added she has likely added to the height of her locks with a bouncy blow dry.
‘There’s some lighter shades from the root which would suggest she also has some extension in there to give added thickness and volume to enhance the look.
The mother-of-four has debuted a ‘butterfly cut’ at this year’s tournament, which is achieved by cutting lots of layers
‘The hair has been blow dried with volumizing products and with a big round brush to give root lift.
‘This is called the brush technique which is blow dried from the root and the brush is left in whilst the hair cools before another section is done.’
Fabian described Kim’s new look, the butterfly haircut, as ‘a long bob where you bring all the hair forward and cut it with heavy layering.’
He added: ‘This is very fashionable at the moment, particularly on TikTok.
‘The length is super flattering for most ages, particularly for Kim, but is also a style which suits most face shapes. It’s a great cut for the summer and little maintenance when you have thick hair.’
Describing Kim’s look as ‘on trend’, he said it was a ‘sophisticated and classy’ style, which ties in with her chic outfits.
‘The length is not too long which shows off the butterfly layering perfectly, and although it’s clearly been blow dried, it also looks very natural and effortless,’ Fabian said.
‘Kim was 100% leading the style stakes, with other A listers still sporting super long hair extensions which look a little dated and overly groomed for Wimbledon.
‘Kim is supporting her husband and doesn’t want to look too distracting but has pulled off the effortless and stylish Wimbledon glamour perfectly.’
Kim and Andy have been together since 2005, first getting together when she was 17 and he was 18.
They are now happily married with four children: Sophia, seven, Edie, five, Teddie, three, and a two-year-old thought to be called Lola.
