Bradley Walsh’s eldest child Barney, 25, is ‘at the centre of a bidding war between the BBC and ITV’

Like father, like son: Bradley Walsh’s eldest child Barney, 25, is ‘at the centre of a bidding war between the BBC and ITV’ after starring in hugely successful Breaking Dad travel series alongside The Chase star

As the king of entertainment television Bradley Walsh has amassed a fortune of £18.6million.

And now it appears that his son Barney isn’t far behind after landing a number of lucrative gigs himself – and like his dad, is at the centre of a bidding war between the BBC and ITV.

Sources say that the 25-year-old is being ‘inundated’ with offers after catapulting to fame next to his father on their ITV series Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad, which sees the father and son duo taking on challenges while travelling the world in a camper van.

The partnership has set Barney on his way to becoming a multi-millionaire himself as 2023 is to be the year that he is set to become a household name.

Later this year Barney will once again line up with Bradley to host the reboot of the popular 90’s show Gladiators which will air on the BBC on Saturday nights. Industry insiders predict that the programme will be a ‘shop window’ to get even bigger shows than his father.

Barney, whose mother is choreographer Donna Derby, also currently stars on the BBC drama Casualty after landing a role as the hapless trainee nurse Cameron Mickelthwaite.

He was also a contestant on Catchphrase and played Ryan Cook in an episode of BBC hit Death in Paradise. Last year he once again appeared alongside The Chase host Bradley on the ITV remake of The Darling Buds of May, The Larkins where he played police officer PC Harness.

Barney, who is his father’s doppelganger, inherited the acting bug as a child, landing his first audition aged 12, for the role of the Artful Dodger in a West End production of Oliver!. He later made his feature film debut playing a Young Arthur alongside Jude Law and David Beckham in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

Earlier this week, it was revealed Bradley has an estimated fortune of £18.6 million after a £3.5 million increase over the past 12 months, according to figures from his WingIt Productions firm.

A TV insider said: ‘Bradley really is at the top of his game right now and is raking it in. He’s firmly established himself at the top of his profession and is the go-to man for both the BBC and ITV, now it’s his son’s turn.’
