Yorkshire have denied claims from one punter who claimed they had slept on the Western Terrace on Saturday night to ensure their spot for Sunday’s final day.

A punter said they had pulled the stunt but Headingley bosses say that was not the case – but admit there had been a breach of security and were looking into how the prankster managed to get into the ground amid heightened safety concerns.

A spokesperson from Yorkshire County Cricket Club said: ‘The Club can confirm an individual did not sleep in the Western Terrace last night.

‘CCTV evidence shows that an individual placed themselves in the Western Terrace after 7.15am this morning, while filming themselves.

‘Security quickly dealt with the individual and enquiries are ongoing.

‘The safety and wellbeing of fans, players and staff in attendance and across this test is paramount.’
