Influencer saved THOUSANDS on pricey procedures by traveling to foreign countries to have them done

A ‘beauty tourism’ influencer has shared how she saves thousands of dollars on pricey procedures like hair extensions and dentistry work by jetting off to foreign countries like Thailand and Turkey to have them done.

Bryn Elise Wright, 28, from Boulder, Colorado, recently went viral after she revealed that she travels more than 6,000 miles just to get her hair done.

The social media star explained in a recent TikTok video that she began voyaging all the way across the globe to Istanbul for hair extensions last year – and she insisted that she’s able to save more than $3,000 each time.

‘I know what you’re thinking: “This girl is insane.” But let me explain why it is 100 per cent worth it,’ Bryn began in her video, which was shared last month and got more than seven million views.

She explained that they began charging $4,450 for three rows of 24-inch extensions, which was a little too steep for her.

'I realized a lot of the hair inspo photos that I had saved from Instagram were done by this stylist that lived in Turkey,' she said. 'So I slid into his DMs to get a quote, and tell me why this man said he'd do my dream hair for $500'

‘I realized a lot of the hair inspo photos that I had saved from Instagram were done by this stylist that lived in Turkey,’ she continued.

‘So just out of curiosity I slid into his DMs to get a quote, and tell me why this man said he’d do my dream hair for $500.’

She then made an appointment at the Ferdi Karatay salon, and hopped on a plane to Turkey a few weeks later.

And while she said she paid around $800 for the flight and another $350 for her week-long stay in an Airbnb, she said the trip was still much less than the $4,450 she would have had to spend if she got it done in the US.

‘I used the money I would have spent on my hair towards a vacation in Turkey,’ she gushed.

‘It was an amazing experience, if you’re ready for the glo’ up of your life, you need to visit a Turkish hairstylist, I promise you, you will never look back, it’s so worth it.’

She then shared clips of herself enjoying various beaches in Turkey and exploring Istanbul with her new ‘do.

Bryan explained on the app that she has now visited Turkey a total of three times just to get her hair done.

She also previously flew to Thailand to get her teeth fixed, receiving two fillings and X-rays for only $92.

‘Procedures that costs tens of thousands of dollars in the United States sometimes only cost a few grand abroad,’ she said in another video.

‘If we took the money we spent on health expenses in the US and put it towards getting those same services done abroad, we could take, like, three to four amazing vacations each year, without spending more money than we normally do.’

Bryn, who has started her own travel coaching website called Travel & Hustle, also revealed that she’s now thinking of hosting ‘group beauty tourism trips’ with other women who want to get work done abroad.

In recent years, ‘beauty and medical tourism’ has become very popular amongst Americans – with the millions of men and women traveling to other countries to undergo cosmetic or medical procedures each year.

The Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that surgery is 50 per cent cheaper in ‘developing countries.’ A tummy tuck, for example, costs around $8,000 in the US and $4,500 in Mexico, it reported.

And while it can certainly save you money, the trend comes with some serious risks. Last month, it was revealed that multiple women had died from fungal meningitis after they got plastic surgery in Mexico.

Health officials believed the fungal outbreak came from unsterilized equipment or black-market morphine used at two Mexican clinics.

Another woman, named Shannyn Palmer, told ABC in March that she she suffered from severe burns that left her ‘permanently disfigured’ after getting a tummy tuck in Tijuana, Mexico.

She recalled waking up in ‘agonizing pain’ on her hands, and was later told that doctors had placed heated saline bags on her in an attempt to keep her warm during surgery – but accidentally burned her.

‘When I got home, they told me the news, they said, “You’re likely going to have an amputation on your dominant thumb,”‘ she said.

‘Here in the United States, individuals are credentialed to perform certain types of procedures that’s usually based on their training,’ Dr. Oren Tepper, director of aesthetic surgery at Montefiore Albert Einstein College of Medicine, told the outlet.

‘It’s based on their board certification and it’s based on whether their facility is deemed safe for general anesthesia. That may not be the case abroad.’
