Tom Cruise smartens up in button down and jeans as he steps out in New York amid Mission: Impossible promotional tour

Tom Cruise was looking smart as he arrived at the AMC Theater in Times Square this weekend.

The actor was in the Big Apple promoting Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

The 61-year-old star rocked a pair of dark wash jeans and a black button-down shirt.

Aviator sunglasses sat on his very famous face and his brown hair was on the long side as he waved to fans gathered to see the movie star.

The Top Gun actor’s New York City appearance comes a few days after Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie, 54, praised the actor for ‘saving cinema.’

The latest installment in the long running franchise hits theaters on July 12 – nine days ahead of two of the most anticipated films of the summer: Barbie and Oppenheimer.

The new Mission: Impossible movie is making news for one of the most epic stunts in movie history and the fact that Cruise, who is well known for performing his own stunts, pulled it off.

In the stunt, the Cocktail actor rides a motorcycle off of a cliff at high speeds and free falls down a canyon.

McQuarrie admitted: ‘This is far and away the most dangerous thing we’ve ever attempted.’

Months of training and practice runs took place before the cast and crew filmed the death defying stunt.

And of course the Rain Man actor performed the stunt without any mishaps, and was willing to go back for more takes to get it perfect.

One crew member recalled: ‘Tom Cruise just rode a motorcycle off a cliff six times today.’

After the jumps were filmed, McQuarrie said: ‘The only thing that scares me more is what we have planned for Mission [Impossible] 8.’

Cruise summed up the experience by saying: I’ve wanted to do it since I was a little kid. It all comes down to one thing – the audience.’

And the Risky Business actor has no intention of hanging up his stunt man skills or his role as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible anytime soon, despite being firmly in his AARP years.

‘Harrison Ford is a legend; I hope to be still going,’ he told the Sydney Morning Herald at the Australian premiere of his latest movie.

‘I’ve got 20 years to catch up with him,’ Tom said. ‘I hope to keep making Mission: Impossible films until I’m his age.’
