Woman is left in tears after trying contouring hack with fake tan

A beauty enthusiast who thought she had found a great hack learned the hard way why you should blend in your fake tan. 

Maddie Jensen, from Virginia, used a home self-tanner in order to obtain a natural-looking contouring without using actual makeup. 

She explained in a TikTok that she applied the tanning product on her forehead, cheeks and nose to leave overnight, in the hope of achieving a natural-looking glow. 

However, Maddie was left in tears after the fake tan worked a little too well, leaving her with harsh brown smudges on her cheeks that wouldn’t budge. 

After she shared the mishap online, Maddie quickly saw the funny side of her story, and joke she had learned from her mistake, and would blend in the product next time.

In the video, Maddie can be seen with the self-tanning product spread over her forehead, cheeks and nose. 

She admitted in a previous clip that she had not done it before and did not know how much product she needed or if she needed to blend it in. 

When she woke up in the morning to get ready for work, Maddie tried to wipe off the product, but looked dismayed when it looked darker than she had hoped for. 

In the funny clip, she could be seen energetically whipping off the product with a wet cotton bud, but her efforts were unfortunately in vain. 

After whipping and cleaning her face for 10 minutes, the beauty enthusiast still had brown smudges of fake tan on her skin.  

‘After 10 minutes, this is what I have. I cannot believe I’m about to walk into the office,’ Maddie tells the camera. 

The TikTok user than made fake crying sounds as she pointed her finger to the brown stain on her cheeks. 

Maddie shared her misfortune on TikTok, where she was quick to see the funny side.

She admitted in a caption accompanying the video that her experiment had been an ‘absolute fail.’ 

However, she was able to see the funny side and promised she had learned from her mistakes.  

People sympathized with her mistake, with some saying she had put too much product on her face, and that she should have blended the fake tan in.

‘Haha, this is everything! It’s real life sis. Next time apply all over and gently go over those areas. PS your brows are amazing,’ one kindly said. 

‘I’m very pale and do this as well, but I blend it in so it looks blended while witting to avoid harsh lines,’ one person advised. 

Maddie replied: ‘I watched more videos and am more prepare for it if I do decide to ever try again.’
