State of Origin viewers label pre-show entertainment a ‘snorefest’ as New Zealand pop band Six60 take to the stage with ‘random’ haka performers: ‘I’m Kiwi as but f*** this mess!’
State of Origin fans have slammed organisers for choosing New Zealand pop band Six60 as the pre-game entertainment for Game Three on Wednesday night.
The group took to the stage at Sydney’s Olympic Park to belt out their hit Don’t Forget Your Roots, complete with a haka performance.
But many fans were left confused with choice of lineup and questioned why an Australian band wasn’t the opening act.
‘How disappointing the #NRL couldn’t book an Australian artist to open the third game. #origin #StateofOrigin #origin2023,’ one viewer wrote.
‘Some strange goings on pregame at origin. Why the kiwis on the stage? Get the band, but this has nothing to do with Nz. #StateofOrigin,’ another commented.

A third person said: ‘Why we got a NZ Haka ceremony as pre game before origin??? #Origin23 #StateofOrigin.’
‘Just wondering why there’s NSW and QLD playing and we have a New Zealand pop group as the entertainment #StateofOrigin,’ another said.
One questioned: ‘Why are fans bombarded with Mauri music and performers when it’s a game between QLD, Australia vs NSW, Australia? This would be more appropriate for an AUS vs NZ game you would think?’
‘#StateofOrigin I’m seeing a Haka instead of a Welcome to Country. Did New South Wales confused about who they’re playing? I love the haka, but this was very random,’ another said.
‘Why the Fark have we got a NZ band doing entertainment anyway. Who the fark thought that was a good idea. Secondly, when Lara from entertainment bookings suggests Six60, who the fark says great work Lara, book them out before the Rooty Hill RSL snaps them up,’ wrote one more disgruntled fan.

‘Is this like a handover ceremony for next year’s Origin in Auckland?’ wrote one viewer.
‘Anyone else think that the NRL is trying to tell us that they are going to move an Origin match to NZ?’ said one more, before adding: After this performance, not surprised.’
‘Is this NRL trying to sees the fact they are selling #StateOfOrigin out to go to NZ??? What a snore fest!!!!’ tweeted another.
