Margot Robbie stuns in a tulle-trimmed satin gown with Ryan Gosling at UK premiere of Barbie

Margot Robbie stunned in an embroidered tulle-trimmed satin gown as she joined Ryan Gosling for the star-studded UK premiere of Barbie in London on Wednesday.

The leading actress, 33, has debuted a series of looks inspired by the doll in the lead up to the film’s release, and chose to channel a 1960s Enchanted Evening figurine for the hotly anticipated event at Cineworld, Leicester Square. 

She looked simply sensational in the light pink dress by Vivienne Westwood Couture that nipped in at the waist with a corseted bodice before falling into a glamorous train. 

Margot topped off the vintage look with a pair of silk opera gloves and a layered pearl choker, elevating her height with a pair of silver heels. 

The custom dress was a special development for Margot from the Vivienne Westwood 2023 Couture collection Moonlight gown – a corseted asymmetric look with defined drapery, reminiscent of Ancient Greek statues.

Ryan, who stars alongside her as Ken, nailed the retro-theme in a pastel coloured slimline suit. 

The actor, 42, layered a pale blue satin shirt underneath his jacket, which he left slightly unbuttoned, and completed his ensemble with some white leather brogues.  

Elsewhere, Dua Lipa dazzled in a sheer rhinestone gown as she posed for photos at the event. 

The singer, 27, looked sensational in the multicoloured number that shimmered under the lights on the hot pink carpet.

She accessorised the plunging neckline with a quirky, statement choker and a matching pair of earrings. 

Along with making a special cameo appearance as Mermaid Barbie in the upcoming fantasy comedy, which hits theatres on July 21, Dua also had the chance to make music for the Barbie soundtrack.

The catchy track, Dance The Night, is the lead single on the soundtrack, and officially dropped a few months earlier on May 25.

Other music artists are set to feature on the album as well, such as Ava Max, Ice Spice, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish. Ryan Gosling, who plays Ken in the live-action movie, will also appear on the soundtrack with a song called, I’m Just Ken.

Nicola Coughlan made sure to bring the glamour as she stepped out at Barbie’s European premiere.

She captured attention in a stunning silver satin dress which had a sparkling bodice and droplet glass jewels stitched all across it.

Nicola, who plays a diplomat Barbie in the hotly-anticipated movie, gave herself a few extra inches in a pair of pointed metallic stilettos.

The Bridgerton star added some more glitz to her sensational ensemble with a pair of silver droplet earrings as she smiled for the cameras.

Emma Mackey looked sensational as she went braless beneath a plunging white gown for the star-studded evening. 

Her silver shimmery frock hugged her gorgeous figure as posed up a storm ahead of the screening. 

The Sex Education star, who plays Physicist Barbie in the hotly-anticipated flick, complimented the stunning look with a dainty diamond necklace.

Simu Liu, who also stars as a ken in the film, wore a full Fendi look from the brands Spring/Summer 2024 collection. 

Meanwhile, Sam Smith used fashion to make a statement as they hit the pink carpet. 

The singer, 31, who is non-binary and uses gender neutral pronouns, arrived in a 16 XL jumper and flared jeans. 

The oversized outfit was in reference to the all-inclusive film as the Mattel doll has been heavily criticised since its launch in the 1970s over its unrealistic body proportions.

Sam represents the Kens in the film with the song Man I Am, which will release on July 21 – the same day the movie hits UK cinemas. 

The Glory hitmaker announced on Instagram about their involvement in the film. 

Elsewhere, Will Ferrell was also among the stars, looking dapper in a grey suit for the highly-anticipated event.

The actor, 55, was joined at the premiere by his stylish wife Viveca Paulin, 54, and their three sons.

The couple welcomed eldest son, Magnus, 19, in 2004. The couple expanded their family further with the births of their sons Mattias, 16, in 2006, and Axel, 13, in 2010. 

On the night Will teamed his grey jacket and trousers with a white shirt and quite rightly a pink tie.

Ncuti Gatwa, 30, flaunted his signature sense of style as he joined his co-stars at Cineworld Leicester Square for the much-anticipated premiere.

Ncuti, who is making his Hollywood debut as one of the film’s many Kens, showed off his long legs in sparkling silver hotpants for the occasion.

He teamed his eye-catching look with a long-sleeved cut-out shirt, which gave a glimpse of his toned abs and billowed out into a long cape.

Margot, who tackled the leading role of Barbie, has recently been kept busy on a global press tour with other cast members, and made stops in countries such as Australia, South Korea, and Mexico.

Greta Gerwig, who is known for directing past films such as Little Women (2019) and Lady Bird (2017), not only took on the role as director of the upcoming fantasy comedy, but also co-wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach.

The Barbie movie not only stars Margot, Ryan, and Dua, but also America Ferrera, Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, and Simu Liu. Various versions of both the Barbie and Ken dolls will be portrayed, with actress Helen Mirren narrating the film.

The premise of the movie, which has a budget of $100 million, follows Barbie and Ken as they travel to the real world in order to find the true meaning of happiness.

Filming began last year in 2022 at Warner Bros. Studios in England, while some exterior shots were notably filmed outdoors in Los Angeles, such as Venice. 

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Greta revealed that Margot had felt ‘self-conscious’ while filming the Venice Beach scene. 

‘But when we were actually shooting on Venice Beach, with Margot and Ryan in neon rollerblading outfits, it was fascinating because it was actually happening in front of us,’ she explained. 

‘People would go by Ryan, high-five him, and say, “Awesome, Ryan, you look great!” And they wouldn’t actually say anything to Margot. They’d just look at her. It was just surreal. In that moment, she did feel self-conscious.’

Gerwig added, ‘And as the director, I wanted to protect her. But I also knew that the scene we were shooting had to be the scene where she felt exposed. And she was exposed, both as a celebrity and as a lady.’ 

‘To be fair, Ryan was like, “I wish I wasn’t wearing this vest.” But it was a different kind of discomfort.’

Barbie will officially hit theaters later this month on July 21, the same day Christopher Nolan’s historical epic drama, Oppenheimer, also releases.
