Kat Graham SPLITS from director fiance Darren Genet

The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, 33, SPLITS from director fiancé Darren Genet, 53, just MONTHS into their engagement: ‘He’s a great guy’

The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, 33, has split from her director fiancé Darren Genet, 53, just months into their engagement.

Kat made the announcement Wednesday, revealing that the breakup occurred months prior and sparing a few warm words for her ex.

‘Hey everyone. After many years together, Darren and I have chosen to no longer be together,’ the actress wrote on Twitter.

‘The engagement ended a few months ago. He’s a great guy and we wish each other nothing but the most happy and beautiful life.’

Darren and Kat first struck up their romance in 2017, and early last year during his birthday trip to Mexico she accepted his proposal of marriage.

Darren worked as a director and cinematographer of The Vampire Diaries, but he and Kat reportedly did not first become acquainted on the show.

Despite being together for years, Kat and Darren were assiduously private about their relationship, allowing precious little information to go public.

However when news broke of their engagement last year, an insider effervesced to People: ‘Kat is madly in love and couldn’t be happier.’

Kat was previously engaged to  Cottrell Guidry, 38, an actor who has landed guest shots on such shows as Criminal Minds and the Dynasty revival.

In 2012, Cottrell briefly uploaded a Facebook post hinting at an engagement, but according to Glamour it was rapidly deleted.

Kat then spilled to Us Weekly in April 2014 that she and Cottrell were not in a ‘rush’ to make their way down the aisle.

‘When you’ve been with someone for over half a decade, you feel married already,’ reasoned Kat, who was born in Switzerland. ‘Right now the most important thing is to set up our life to be a good support system for each other.’

The small screen siren mused: ‘I don’t know if people focus on marriage necessarily. I’ve seen a lot of young people get engaged and break up and get engaged and they don’t focus on the realities of marriage.’

By the end of that year, however, insiders informed E! News that Cottrell and Kat broke their engagement ‘a while ago’ but were ‘still friends.’

Kat shot to fame on The Vampire Diaries as the formidable witch Bonnie Bennett, a role she played throughout the run of the show from 2009 to 2017.

The year the CW drama ended, fans could catch her playing Jada Pinkett Smith in the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me.

Her upcoming projects include a Tyler Perry movie called Black, White & Blue that according to IMDb is currently in pre-production.

Teen Wolf alumna Meagan Tandy leads the cast as a widow attempting to pick up the pieces after her husband is killed by a police officer.
