EXCLUSIVE: Harry Garside’s ex’s distressing morning as she’s charged with assaulting the Olympic boxer: Teary Ash Ruscoe barely keeps it together as she seeks help and frantically cancels her gym class
Boxer Harry Garside’s distressed ex-girlfriend rushed to her lawyer’s office and frantically cancelled her teaching of an early morning gym class after assault and stalking charges against her were laid by NSW Police.
Daily Mail Australia exclusively revealed on Thursday that the Olympian’s ex-girlfriend Ash Ruscoe was charged with assaulting and stalking or intimidating Garside at her Bellevue Hill home in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
It came three months after Ms Ruscoe, a boxing and martial arts instructor, had herself gone to police claiming that Garside had left her in fear for her safety. It was the same day Garside had flown to South Africa to film I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Garside was charged by police upon his return to Australia however those charges were withdrawn in May after footage and audio recordings came to light that allegedly told a different story about what happened between the pair.
Ash Ruscoe refused to answer questions when she was approached by Daily Mail Australia in Sydney’s CBD on Thursday
Ms Ruscoe appeared visibly stressed after a meeting at a law firm in Sydney’s CBD
On Wednesday night Ms Ruscoe was arrested at her home and taken to Waverley Police Station, where she was charged over an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred there on Wednesday, March 1.
A police spokesman said: ‘Following further inquiries, police attended the Bellevue Hill home about 4.45pm today, and arrested a 35-year-old woman.
‘She was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with common assault (DV) and stalk/intimidate intend cause fear physical etc harm (DV).’
Ms Ruscoe was granted bail and took legal advice at Sydney’s ‘premier criminal law firm’ Streeton Lawyers in the city’s CBD on Thursday, emerging looking stressed.
She also cancelled her regular boxing classes she teaches at luxury wellness studio, Shelter, in Double Bay.
Despite her ebullient persona on social media, Ms Ruscoe was tight-lipped when approached for comment over the alleged incident.
The martial arts instructor did her best to keep a low profile following charges of assault
Mr Garside also has not commented on the legal twist.
Last month, the 25-year-old boxer was relieved that the charge against him, and an associated apprehended violence order, was formally withdrawn.
Mr Garside announced in a statement outside court that he had been informed by the ‘police prosecutor that they had dropped all matters against me’.
‘Today I have been vindicated,’ he said.
Mr Garside represented Australia in boxing at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, taking bronze in the men’s lightweight division, and had since won his first three professional bouts.
Ms Ruscoe will face Downing Centre Local Court in July.
