Brighton expect to include Moises Caicedo in their squad for pre-season US tour as they hold firm over £100m price tag for Chelsea and Liverpool target – with neither club close to matching midfielder’s valuation

  • Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is wanted by both Chelsea and Liverpool
  • However, his club expect to include him in their squad for their tour of the US
  • Their first pre-season fixture in Philadelphia happens to be against the Blues

Brighton expect to include their midfielder Moises Caicedo in their squad that leaves for the US on Monday.

Caicedo, 21, has been the subject of interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, but neither club has come close to matching Brighton’s £100million asking price.

The first opponents in Brighton’s three games on their US tour happen to be Chelsea – in Philadelphia on July 26.

Chelsea remain in negotiations over a potential deal for Caicedo but are understood to have Southampton’s Romeo Lavia on their shortlist as an alternative.

Caicedo himself has admitted he is open to joining the Blues, having said he ‘couldn’t say no’ to the club and labelled them a ‘beautiful team’.

The 21-year-old had previously tried to force through a transfer to Arsenal in January and conceded missing out on the move was ‘tough’.

He is now edging closer to rivals Chelsea, though, and has spoken on the move.

‘It’s a big team, that’s true,’ Caicedo told La Cancha Con Majo.

‘A very historic team and I can’t say no because it is a very big, historic, beautiful team. The city as well is beautiful.’

Meanwhile, the Seagulls remain interested in Blues defender Levi Colwill, who had a successful loan spell at the Amex last season.

Brighton also remain in talks with Manchester City over a deal for England Under-21 player Cole Palmer.

He was initially targeted for a permanent deal but City are reluctant to sell and Palmer may end up leaving on an initial loan.
