New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers has a ‘pretty low’ level of concern with the offensive lines struggles this preseason
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers told reporters that he was not yet worried about the team’s preseason struggles on the offensive line and that his level of concern was in fact ‘pretty low.’
Aside from being on the receiving end of six sacks and countless pressures during Wednesday’s joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Jets are also dealing with multiple injuries to projected starters along the o-line.
Both starting guards Laken Tomlinson and Alijah Vera-Tucker are dealing with injuries at the moment and projected starting left tackle Duane Brown is still on the physically unable to perform list as he recovers from a shoulder injury.
‘It’s Aug. 16, so we’ve got some time,’ Rodgers said. ‘Also, it’s coming up.’
He also mentioned being happy with the makeshift offensive line from a physical standpoint but mentioned that they ‘missed some real easy stuff.’

Along with dealing with injuries, the Jets seem to have several side stories taking place aside from getting the line up to speed.
There’s a battle at center between veteran Connor McGovern and rookie Joe Tippmann, a position battle at right tackle between Max Mitchell and Billy Turner, along with 2020 first-round pick Mekhi Becton’s journey back to full health after two separate surgeries to his right knee.
‘I don’t get concerned about things I don’t have a huge role in — yet,’ Rodgers also told reporters.
‘That might change. At some point, I might say, ‘Hey, I need the five who are going to be in there to be in there with me for a solid week,’ but I don’t think we’re at that point … because I don’t think there are five guys that have earned those spots. So, I have some patience.’
While Rodgers may be preaching patience and a calm head when it comes to the line his head coach Robert Saleh has seemed to be taking a much more aggressive approach.
On this week’s episode of HBO’s Hard Knocks Saleh was seen calling out the offensive line for a poor performance against the Carolina Panthers during last week’s joint practice.
‘Offense, it was our first f***ing opportunity to change the stink that’s been in this organization for a very long time on the offensive side of the ball,’ said Saleh.
‘You can have a Hall of Fame quarterback. You can have two $10M-plus receivers. You can have a reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year.’
‘You can have all kinds of skill in the running back room. None of it fucking matters until the big boys up front change who the f*** we are.’
Rodgers is not the only player in New York who will be relying on the offensive line to get things together in the hopes of having a big season as the team officially completed the signing of free agent running back Dalvin Cook today.
