Friends and ex-team-mates of Liam Miller have revealed the former Celtic midfielder is battling cancer.
The 36-year-old began his career at Parkhead, scoring two goals in 26 appearances during the Martin O’Neill era before moving to Manchester United.
Miller, a former Republic of Ireland international raised in Cork, also played for Sunderland, Leeds and Hibernian before spells in Australia and the United States.

He moved back to his hometown of Cork two years ago with his wife and three children before a spell at Wilmington Hammerheads.
Miller is understood to be fighting pancreatic cancer, undergoing treatment in America last month before returning home.
Former Hibs colleague Tam McManus wrote: ‘Awful news about Liam Miller keep the fingers crossed that he somehow pulls through.
‘Was in the USA for treatment this month and flys back tomorrow to start chemo here.’
Miller, who also played for Leeds, attracted tributes from former team-mates on social media
McManus added: ‘He starts chemo tomorrow and is fighting hard really can’t go into any more detail than that out of respect for him and family. Praying he can get better.’
Noel Hunt wrote: ‘Such sad news about my old Room mate Liam Miller, Pray to God he pulls through this battle with Cancer, my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.’
Ex-Celtic defender Darren O’Dea, now with Dundee, said: ‘All my thoughts and love with Liam Miller and his family.’
Charlie Adam tweeted: ‘Thoughts are with Liam miller and his family at this tough time.#staystrong’.
Ian Harte added: ‘Very sad news about one of my old teammates Liam Miller, thinking of him and his family at this very difficult time.’
‘My thoughts are with Liam Miller and his family this morning. Hope he can get through this difficult time of his life,’ wrote John Hartson.
Danny Higginbotham said: ‘If true very sad news about one of my former teammates Liam Miller. Thoughts with him and his family at this very difficult time.’
