Acting Inspector Paul Algie said police had spoken to the two friends the man was working with.
‘They’re understandably extremely distressed over what’s occurred,’ he told ABC News.
‘They’re very traumatised as a result of what’s happened and police are assisting them obviously in any way we can in terms of ongoing welfare needs.’
None of the men were contracted to do the job, but were helping the person who owns the property.
‘They are all friends and they were doing a favour for the lady that owns the property sadly,’ Maryborough Forensics Inspector Steve Webb told 9 News.
Paramedics confirmed they attended the scene at about 8pm but were unable to revive the man.
