Chelsea were made to work for their spot in the third round of the Carabao Cup as they edged past AFC Wimbledon at Stamford Bridge.

The League Two side took the lead in the 19th minute through James Tilley, who slotted home from the penalty spot in front of over 4,000 travelling fans after Robert Sanchez mis-timed a punched clearance.

Noni Madueke won a spot kick of his own just before the break and scored it himself to square things up, but it took several changes from the hosts to force the winner.

Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez were among those who were introduced by Mauricio Pochettino, with the latter scoring from distance after a mistake from Alex Bass.

Bass sprinted out of his goal and struck a kick against a chasing attacker, with the ball falling to the World Cup winner who calmly slotted in.
