Altona Beach: Woman’s body is found on Melbourne beach

A woman’s body has been found on a popular beach in Melbourne.

Beachgoers came across the grim discovery at Altona Beach near Esplanade and Millers Rd just after 8.30am on Monday.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

Her body was reportedly found at the rocky end of the beach.

Police remain at the beach where a crime scene has been set up.

An investigation into how the woman died is now underway.

‘Police, SES and crime scene investigators in attendance and shared path blocked off,’ a shocked local wrote on X.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers. 

Altona Beach is renowned for its calm waters and 500m long pier in Melbourne’s south-west.
